A
public process resulting in a plan for a park on Mall C was completed
in the fall of 2002. The Cleveland Mall Plaza Beautification Fund
approved total expenditures of $1.2 million to remove the current
parking lot, adjust existing load weight issues on the Mall, and
install a great lawn, walks, seating and plantings in the park.
Mayor
Campbell joined Cleveland Foundation Director Steven Minter in December
2002 to announce the project. ParkWorks served as project manager,
supervising all aspects of the project's design and construction
and crews installed 116 trees and 4,000 mums for the dedication.
To celebrate this spectacular site,
hundreds of people attended the dedication of Mall C, now known
as Strawbridge Plaza, on October 8th to commemorate the 100th anniversary
of the Burnham Plan for the Malls.
