Funding
Green Schools are finding a range of community funding partners,
including neighborhood businesses that have contributed $17,000
to the effort. Other funders include KeyBank, City of Cleveland,
Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Martha Holden Jennings Foundation,
and Thomas A. White Foundation. The Cleveland Foundation is funding
a collaborative effort to create a National Model Learning Garden
at Orchard Elementary School as part of that school's playground
project that will engage nationally renowned designers to develop
a more sophisticated outdoor classroom.
Our Partners
The
design and safety standards for each garden were developed in conjunction
with noted local landscape architect James S. McKnight. Green Schools
continue collaborations with local providers of informal education
such as Cleveland Botanical Garden, Cleveland MetroParks Zoo, Lake
Farm Park, and others. Overall long-term school ground maintenance
is the responsibility of the Cleveland School District.
