A Shared Campus for John Hay/Cleveland School of the Arts

Located in University Circle, John Hay High School and Cleveland School of the Arts share an unusable greenspace. Between them, these two schools serve over 1,800 students -- the size of a small college.

ParkWorks created a shared campus with a usable athletic field, outdoor open space for the students, a safe system of pathways that connect the two schools and an attractive greenspace that can be used as a community park. A decorative fence surrounds the unified campus, creating a highly visible project that calls attention to the educational innovation occurring in Cleveland's schools.

A coalition of funders made this $1,000,000 effort possible, including The Kent H. Smith Charitable Trust; Saint Luke’s Foundation of Cleveland, Ohio; The George Gund Foundation; Eva L. and Joseph M. Bruening Foundation; The Abington Foundation; John P. Murphy Foundation; Sears-Swetland Family Foundation; Frank and Barbara Sullivan Fund; First Energy Foundation; and The Cleveland Foundation.
