Holiday Schedule
The City of Cleveland recycling program is growing
by leaps and bounds. The City now sponsors 32 public drop-off
sites throughout the city. These drop sites accept all materials
which means NO SORTING, NO BLUE BAGS and NO BUNDLING!
Thanks to wonderful partnership, the City now accepts the
following items:
- Plastics number 1 through 7
- All metal containers (Tin, Aluminum, Steel)
- Non-waxed Cardboard
- All Paper
- Plastic grocery bags
The City of Cleveland has been
leading an aggressive recycling program for more than ten
years. What began as a small pilot effort in 1991 has grown
to a program that offers all residents the opportunity to
participate in recycling:
2006 Recycling Goals
- To increase city wide recycling participation and awareness
through community education
- To re-evalutae the existing recycling program as a means
of future improvement
- To increase the amount of drop-off recycling sites
- Increase the participation rate of commercial recycling
This website is designed to inform you of the
recycling opportunities that exist in the City of Cleveland.
It is also designed for you to provide feedback and suggestions
on ways that we may better serve the residents of Cleveland.

Did you know, for example,
that in addition to collecting
metal, paper, and plastic items,
the City of Cleveland in partnership with the Cuyahoga County
Waste District holds several annual
collection drives for computers,
paint and pesticides,
phone books and
scrap tires?
These events have proven successful thanks to overwhelming
residential support.
As with any program, education
plays a key role in achieving success. The Division
of Waste Collection, works closely with the Cleveland
Municipal School District to educate teachers and students
about the environmental and financial benefits of recycling.
The Division also works with various neighborhood
organizations to
promote recycling awareness through meetings, festivals
and a variety of other community activities.
Neighborhood
Activities
We're also focused on making the City
of Cleveland a model participant in the program. All city
offices and facilities participate in an Administrative Recycling
Paper Program.
